Sheldon Shalley, MA, MSW, is a psychotherapist, licensed clinical social worker, educator, artist and shamanic practitioner. For more than thirty years he has helped people break free from destructive and unhealthy patterns and move toward psychological and spiritual well-being. Raised in an evangelical minister’s home, Sheldon’s desire to reconcile his traditional religious training with his non-traditional sexuality thrust him into the study of his dreams, various spiritual traditions, philosophy, psychology and eventually shamanism and energy medicine. Sheldon has led dream groups and shaman circles, presented workshops on understanding your dreams, sexuality and spirituality, shamanism, art and energy medicine. His blog, The Psychotherapist and the Shaman, contains articles on the integration of psychotherapy, shamanism and art as pathways to healing. An accomplished artist, Sheldon regularly exhibits in the Indianapolis area and uses his art to open portals as avenues for healing. Sheldon earned his master’s degree in social work from Indiana University. He lives in Noblesville, Indiana, with his wife of over 56 years, Betty. They have two children and two grandchildren. His personal psycho-sexual-spiritual journey and work as a psychotherapist have given him direct experience with healing the emotional, psychological, and spiritual wounds of human suffering. Sheldon is in private practice in Indianapolis, Indiana.
